Unlike split systems, “Self-contained” system’s two main components (the Evaporator and Compressor) are grouped together within one housing. These systems are the most economical and easiest to install. They are designed to mount between the studs of an existing wall.
The amount of noise the cooling system makes is very important to consider when selecting your system. Typically Split Systems have the quietest in-cellar operation due to the compressor being located in a remote area. Ducted Systems are virtually silent in the wine cellar.
